One of the legendary Utrecht shops of the early 90's. Good memories! I think they got caught growing weed above the shop. That's why they are not there anymore.

I always had a soft spot for this place despite its murkiness. When I walked past it there was a sign on the door saying they were having some problems with the council and parking and they wanted to reopen soon but it was dated April 2007 so maybe it wont :(

It has been closed for a while. It doesn't look like it will be open again.

Very small one - you can just buy there but not smoke. Not so wide range of weed (NLX, White Widow, Red Skunk, Thai) but White Widow and NLX are very good and usually fresh. Very reasonable prices - e.g. only 5 Euro for 0,9g White Widow. Very kind and helpful staff. Moreover, there are some bargains. In most cases you are given a few rolling papers for free. Generally speaking I like it but once I've bought their hash (Afgan) in bargain for only 11 Euro for 5g and it turned out a total crap. Maybe I could expect it

I go to De Break whenever I'm in Utrecht, once or twice a year. Buy most of my smoke there. Good selection of hash and weed. White Widow is usually the best deal, Not a place you'll want to sit around. Rather dark, few tables, and quite frankly rather shabby, but always a friendly smiling person with a good attitude at the counter. Very nice location in the old part of town, a couple blocks from the Oudegracht. Once a week (Tuesdays? Wednesdays?) they have a discount special on bud: worth watching for.

A 'takeaway' shop (no consumption on premises), which was not only the first shop we visited in town, but also our introduction to this concept. Imagine a small (about 5m by 5m) takeaway type snack bar which also sells cannabis, and you've got it. Mine host was very friendly and seemed to have a slightly larger selection available than the other types of shop (logic dictates this would be a Necessary Thing for a 'takeaway', yes?).
