The Glory

Unfortunately my favorite coffeeshop in the world has been closed by the authorities as of 1 September 2012. The owner was refused a new permit and was forced to close.

As a professional in the trade of 5 star hotels and restaurants service myself, we'd like to thank The Glory staff for their good choices they had given us. When I went in the first time I was with a Spanish friend of mine that didn't speak Dutch nor English, just little a bit but not enough. I went to the toilets and when I came back the coffees were already there and (Bart I think!?) the barman had explained it all in detail to my friend, in Spanish! He was a fluent my friend said. Had a chat with him about Spain and made us feel really welcome! So thank you again for that glorious experience!

Nice coffeeshop with a laidback atmosphere, cool music and chairs that used to be in a cinema! Good weed and hash (not as good as in the bigger cities like Amsterdam, but good). Try the 'Puntjes' hash and the 'Kristal' weed, both are very nice, in my opinion. For pre-rolled joints, the joints they sell are pretty good, for as far as I've tested, it's one of the better shops in town.

Last year I was a student studying in Groningen and this was my favourite coffee-shop. I used to go everyday, but I remember I never missed a Sunday night there to smoke a few joints and relax! I would like to keep in touch with the barman that speaks Spanish. I hope I'll come back soon so I can smoke a bit of that incredible "Glory"!

My first impression of De Glory was good, this is coming from someone who isn’t a regular hash smoker or coffeeshop goer. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere, and great space cakes - 2.50 Euro each. The chairs are a bit like one's you get in a cinema, but more comfortable. Ordered confidently enough in Dutch, but the bar staff would of also spoke English.
