After a long night in Leidseplein and an even longer walk back towards our hostel, my wife and I (21 and 23 years old) came across a gem called Kabouter. By this time it was already almost midnight. I'm so happy I found this place so early during my trip as I will be back to this location many times throughout my stay, as well as any future travels I make to the city no matter how far out of my way it may be. Great prices, honest and friendly staff who kept us company until they closed. Not near any touristy areas so you're sure to meet kind locals. I would recommend this place to any friend or stranger who was looking for a relaxing atmosphere to meet great people.

Although not rudely spoken, the dealer gave an obvious attitude that he didn't want my friend and I there - choosing to completely ignore me after my friend had made his purchase! I wouldn't tell people to avoid this place as they might have a different experience, but I certainly don't feel they deserve my custom in the future (especially with a gold mine in Katsu) just around the corner - a shame as I had high hopes for this shop. Not to be.
